The Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region has no court building and this has made the dispensation of justice in the area difficult, Mr Samadi Tonkoya, Principal court interpreter said on Wednesday.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bawku on Wednesday, Mr Tonkoya said the Judicial Service is currently occupying the old Assembly block with other departments which creates inconveniences during court proceedings.
He said the Assembly was given GH¢100,000 to construct a court building but the structure had since not been completed, saying that the building had very small rooms that were not fit to be used for the dispensation of justice.
Mr Abdulai Musah, Municipal Chief Executive on his part said he had no knowledge of a contract on a court building that the Assembly was supposed to give out and fund.
He, however, called on the Municipal Judicial Service to collaborate with the Assembly to find out when and how it received those monies for the completion of the court building.
