The Sekyere Central District Assembly has declared war on Fulani herdsmen who have made life unbearable for farmers in the area.
Mr Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the herdsmen had become a complete nuisance and a big security threat, vowing that everything would be done by the assembly to ensure that they were flushed out.
The DCE, who was addressing an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nsuta, appealed to people in the communities to be alert and co-operate with the assembly to deal decisively with the lawlessness of the herdsmen.
He said the assembly would bring development to the area and transform the living conditions of the population.
Through its share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and the District Development Facility (DDF), the assembly had undertaken a number of development projects.
Sekyere Central was allocated GH¢1,208,668.94 as its share of the Common Fund, last year, and of this amount GH¢689,335.77, representing 57.03 per cent was released to it.
The assembly also received GH¢519.665.72 from the DDF as reward for its good performance.
Mr Akuoko-Frimpong called for the enactment of a bye-law to tackle the growing problem of street children in the area.
