The Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Mr Malik Kweku Baako says the security forces must be alert and prevent a repeat of the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis in the national capital.An eruption of the magnitude of the Dagbon crisis, according to him, would be very destructive since Accra is the national capital of Ghana and houses thousands of people from across the country.Malik Baako was commenting on the recent installation of a new Ga Mantse - Nii Tackie Adama Latse II - and the subsequent takeover of the king’s Palace near Kaneshie on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme Wednesday.King Tackie Tawiah III until Sunday’s enstoolment of Nii Adama Latse II, was the only Ga Mantse, albeit with some controversy.Kweku Baako in his submission noted that though he cannot entirely blame the Police for not acting promptly to stop the takeover of the palace –a situation which could have ended in bloodletting if supporters of King Tackie Tawiah III had clashed with those loyal to the new king – he could not rule out security failure on their part.He said such failure was the lead contributor to the Dagbon Chieftaincy dispute and that of the Kokumba-Nanumba war.Malik Baako advised that those who are contesting the legitimacy of King Tackie Tawiah III, though by their act have committed contempt of court, should allow the judicial processes to determine who should be the Ga Mantse.
