An attempt by the Kasoa Urban Council to relocate traders and drivers at the Kasoa Old Market is said to have generated a lot of confusion.
The council has relocated the main lorry station to a new location far from town.
A journalist with Kosoa-based Pink FM Prince Asiedu told Joy News the council undertook the exercise after the drivers and the traders had defied a directive to move to the new station created for them.
Reports say the council, backed by the police, also demolished structures of the market women.
The authorities created a new station near Ofankor, a suburb on the outskirts of the town, following rampant vehicular knockdowns near the old market.
But the traders would not move despite the persistent calls on them to do so.
Meanwhile the Kasoa MTTU which is said to have deployed men to facilitate the demolition has denied its role in the demolishing exercise.
“We have all witnessed an exercise going on at the Kasoa Old Market. If I say the police is aware, then I’m not telling the truth,” Kasoa MTTU director ASP William Gyamfi told Joy News.
Although the traders and drivers have been moved residents say the movement is only temporary.
