The Osu Salem Old Boys Association (OSOBA) on Friday kicked against the intention of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to rehabilitate the school building and use it as a reference library and museum. Mr Joseph Dottey, Chairman of the Association, said the group did not also understand why the Ga Presbytery did not consult members before the decision was taken. “We know there is land at the site of the building which provides enough space for the proposed museum and reference library to be built,” he said at the inauguration of eight committees of OSOBA to perform various tasks. Mr Dottey stated that the Osu Salem building was a historic monument that needed to be preserved and said the Association would present a petition to the Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG to address the issue and make sure the building was not demolished. He said the group was making every effort to make sure the school was given a new facelift through renovation, adding that OSOBA had already helped in roofing the building. Mr Dottey called on all old students to come together to help the school attain the height it deserved. “We have benefited from this school so let us all join hands to give back to the school what was given us some years back.” The eight committees are the Advisory, Building Foundation, Publicity, Technical, Finance and Fundraising, Classmate’s Coordination, Legal and Defence and Welfare.
