The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has given approval for the construction of 300 speed ramps on two major roads running through the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.
This is to help reduce the spate of fatal accidents in the area.
The ramps are being done on the Abuakwa-Toase stretch of the Kumasi-Bibiani road and the Abuakwa-Tabere section of the Kumasi-Sunyani road.
Nana Asare Bediako, the District Chief Executive (DCE), has asked the contractors to ensure early completion of the job.
He said the decision to erect the ramps followed appeals by the chiefs, assembly members, market women and school children served by the two economically important roads.
The DCE said he was confident that the unacceptable rate of killing and maiming of travelers and pedestrians, especially during market days at Nkawie would end after completion of the ramps.
