The authorities of the University of Ghana, Legon (UGL) have hinted of an amicable solution to resolve the crisis with the students.
This followed a demonstration by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) over what they claim is exorbitant school fees imposed on them by university authorities.
Emmanuel Addo, Lead Organiser of NUGS, said in an exclusive interview with Joy News on Friday, that students have been taken for granted for far too long and the “struggle for a massive reduction in our fees has just begun.”
Briefing the media on the issue on Monday, Prof Kweku Osam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Academic Affairs for the university, said the Executive Committee of the University, have yet to receive any formal petition from the students.
He noted that the leaders of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Graduate Students Union have agreed to put together a formal petition and forward it to the committee after a highly successful meeting with the committee.
He said after the petition is brought, the executive committee will arrive at a decision that will be pleasing to all concerned.
