The Metropolitan Urban Roads Engineer of Sekondi-Takoradi, William Donkor and the Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah, are trading accusations over road rehabilitation works in the Metropolis. William Donkor describes Solomon Nkansah, as a ‘Devil’ who is determined to frustrate his work in the Metropolis. Mr. Donkor said he has been forced to describe the Propaganda Secretary in that light because of Nkansah's persistent attempts to condemn efforts of the Urban Roads Department and does not offer any constructive criticisms to improve their work, adding that Mr. Nkansah seems to have a personal vendetta against him. He said Mr. Nkansah’s attitude of attacking professional public servants is not good for the nation’s development. The two clashed on Kyzz FM in Takoradi where Solomon Nkansah accused the Urban Roads boss of deliberately failing to execute the rehabilitation of roads despite the provision of resources for that purpose. Mr. Nkansah said Mr. Donkor's actions were malicious and politically motivated to tarnish the image of the government. “Listen I know Sekondi-Takoradi, this is not the way it was; he just asked his boys to work after I criticized his work; even the costing of his project is flawed and all the contractors are complaining about him”. Mr. William Donkor was quick to defend himself that his office cannot be politically influenced in any way. “I have been working with Urban Roads since 1984, I know my work. He is just going round to discredit me. Let him go to Kumasi, Cape coast and Tamale and ask about my record. This is very painful. Some behave like the Devil,” he said. Residents of the metropolis have been complaining about the poor state of roads with some even blaming accidents on the road network. Story: Okyeame Amoako Darkwah/Goodnews FM/Takoradi
