Police say there is calm in Bawku despite fears a recent attack on two Mamprusi farmers could lead to ethnic crisis. The victims were attacked by three men while working on their farm in a Kusasi settlement.Police have obtained information they say could lead to the arrest of the suspects behind the attacks.Bawku Municipal Police Commander, ACP Kweku Boadu Peprah told Joy News he suspects the perpetrators were protesting a decision by the Bawku traditional leaders to allow Mamprusis to farm in Kusasi settlements. He said the police had anticipated some disturbances in this farming season so they sought audience with the Bawku Naaba to discuss the concerns of the police.Upon police advice, the Bawku Naaba invited his sub-chiefs to talk to them to prevail on their people to allow the Mamprusis to go their farms but some chiefs raised objection. He suspects the attack was orchestrated by those who opposed the counsel of the Bawku Naaba.
