A leading member of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) Ernest Owusu Bempah, has described persons who spoke to foreign diplomats and whose comments have since found their way into leaked cables published by Wikileaks as nation wreckers.
According to Owusu Bempah, those who spoke to the foreign Diplomats including some senior journalists in the country should have considered the country’s interest first before making any comments.
Owusu Bempah argued that information from the wikileaks cables should not be considered as the gospel truth because such information sometimes tends to be false.
Ernest Owusu Bempah said this when contributing to a panel discussion on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday.
Owusu Bempah said intelligence units like the CIA of US and MI-5 of the United Kingdom led by Dr. David Kelly, Inspector of the United Nations Weapons came out in 2002 and 2003 that the late Saddam Hussein of Iraq had weapons of mass destruction which led to the invasion of Iraqi and the subsequent war.
He added that after the killing of Saddam Hussein, Dr. David Kelly came out to say that claims that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction was a set-up and later committed suicide.
Owusu Bempah questioned that “if foreign intelligence can be flawed, why must Ghanaians take wikileaks cable as the gospel truth”.
However, the Central Regional Propaganda Secretary for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs said there is an iota of truth in the wikileaks cable, especially with regards to the NPP’s Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo over his alleged drug use.
“When we don’t have a good leader, it affects the administration of the country” Allotey Jacobs stressed.
