UNOCI Ghanbatt 15 provides free medical care

The Battalion Headquarters of the United Nations Operations in Cote d’Ivoire (UNOCI) Ghanbatt 15 located at Bondoukou in the Zanzan region, north-eastern part of Ivory Coast has been offering free medical treatment to residents since it took over command on September 7, 2011. The officers make available their Level - 1 Hospital to the residents of the immediate community in its area of responsibility on Tuesdays and Fridays. So far, over 168 Ivorians, mostly women and children have been treated at the hospital and given medications worth over $3,000 free of charge. Among the cases normally reported for treatment include malaria, diabetes, skin disorders and hypertension. Quattara Memuna Serwah, 29, a resident of Tepe, a suburb of Bondoukou who reported for treatment at the hospital, in an interview expressed her appreciation for the free medical care she received. According to her, this has immensely contributed to improving her deteriorating health situation which got her bedridden for some time.
