The Dagbon crisis could just be revived as one of the feuding gates, the Abudus, serve notice of plans to perform the final funeral rites of their late king Ya-Na Mahamadu Abdulai in the old Gbewa Palace. This is the Ya-Na who died in the 1980s and whose status as overload at the time of his death is being challenged by the Andanis. The decision was taken after a meeting with the chiefs and regents of the royal family over the weekend in Yendi.According to the family, preparations will start in January next year.Spokesperson for the Abudu Royal family, Dr. Ziblim Iddi, says the family is only following the 2006 road-map for restoration of peace. He told Joy News any Andani who might have an issue should refer to the road map, which made it possible for their side to bury the murdered Ya-Na Yakubu Andani, and also install a regent.Discussions at the Otumfuo-led Committee of Eminent Chiefs have stalled because of frequent disagreements especially with regard to the sticky issue of the performance of the funeral of Na Mohamadu Abdulai in the Gbewa Palace. It is a matter both gates have been unwilling to compromise on.
