Officials in charge of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage have denied responsibility for some 300 pilgrims reported to be stranded in Tamale in the Northern Region.
The Hajj Agency Association says it has had no problems airlifting more than half of the over four thousand pilgrims who registered with the National Hajj Committee to embark on this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca.
Executive Member of the Hajj Agency Association, Alhaji Gariba Ibrahim told Joy News Thursday that those said to be stranded most likely registered with a different agency.
He said “those people” might have paid their monies “to a particular agent and that agent has not made good of his payment to the National Hajj Committee.”
According to him, the National Hajj Committee has “so far airlifted about 3,728” pilgrims successfully to Mecca.
