Former Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh has challenged President John Evans Atta Mills to, "for the first time", be bold enough to tell his colleague Prime Minister David Cameron that Ghana would not be pressurized to accept homosexuality in exchange for anything.
The UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, has threatened to withhold UK aid from countries that do not reform legislation banning homosexuality, insisting that gay right must be recognized.
Homosexuality, being a criminal offence in Ghana, is also culturally frowned upon by the citizenry and any move to legalise the practice could cause public outrage with possibly serious consequences.
Contributing to discussions on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Monday, Mr Bomfeh, also known as Kabila, stated that Ghana was a sovereign country and demanded that western countries viewed it as such and desist from ordering Ghana's leaders to kowtow to their demands.
He added that the nation’s culture did not entertain such practices and that there was no way Ghanaians would accept homosexuals.
Kwabena Bomfeh wondered if Ghana could not survive without UK aid, daring them to keep their money.
“This is my country and these are my laws, those who will not obey them should leave my country,” Kabila quoted South African Statesman Paul Kruger. He therefore asked President Mills to firmly notify the UK that Ghana would not entertain such ideas.
