The Nadowli district chief executive, Abu Kabienbata Kansagabata, has renovated the Upper West Hall of the University for Development Studies (UDS) at the cost of Ghc37, 000.00. The renovation includes the painting of the entire building, retrofitting damaged parts and the provision of dry lines for students in the hall. At a short ceremony to handover the hall to the school, The Dean in charge of Wa campus of UDS, Professor Z.L Bacho said the school is truly grateful to the DCE for his kind gesture by coming in to assist a university that has teething problems. Professor Bacho said the hall system in any university gives identity to every student which must be maintained if the university is to function well and thrive in an atmosphere of academic development. He said what the DCE has done will forever be remembered by the university. In a short remark the DCE for Nadowli, Abu K.K, said he was invited by the members of the hall to come and be a guest of honor on one occasion for a program in the hall. He said after the program he came to appreciate some problems facing the hall in the university. He said it was out of this situation that he contacted some friends and business associates who agreed to come to the aid of the hall to assist in reshaping it. He said as a former student of the school, he did not have the privilege to have any association with any hall since there was none at their time. It is therefore important that all will put their efforts in sustaining what is in place, he noted. He also promised to continue to come to the aid of the school whenever the need arises. The designate dean of the male section of the hall, Mr. Marshall Kofi Ziema, said the response of the DCE to the needs of the hall was very timely intervention which will go a long way to ease the burden of the students of the hall. He called on other politicians and well meaning citizens to emulate the shining example of the DCE. The hall president, Frank Owusu Manu, thanked all for making the renovation exercise a reality and called on others to come in to also assist the hall.
