The Konkomba Youth Association (KoYA) says recent media reports linking them to attacks and killing of Fulanis could result in reprisal attacks on Konkombas elsewhere.
Over 13 persons said to be Fulanis were killed after some irate youth attacked the nomads in Gushiegu. Police confirmed the arrest of seven persons for their alleged roles in the attacks.
But President of KoYA, Alhaji Munji Benson is asking the media to be circumspect in their reportage from the area, since inaccurate reports could pose a danger to the already volatile area.
He said in other areas such as Agogo, where the actions of the Fulani people were fiercely resisted by the inhabitants, the names of the ethnic groups were not mentioned as being at the centre of the issue and wondered why in their case, the media keep linking the Kokonba people with the crime.
He said if this is not corrected, some wrong could be perpetrated against Konkomba people elsewhere and make matters worse.
