What was meant to be a stable job in a hairdressing salon became a nightmare for six Nigerian girls who were trafficked from their country to Ghana and pushed into prostitution at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
The girls aged between 19 and 23 years from Edo, Lagos and Delta States were rescued by police upon a tip off.
The girls were brought into Ghana two weeks ago allegedly by Esther Francis (33) and Eunice Ayegidi (48), a Nigerian residing at Prampram while Victor Tetteh Koody accommodated them at his unregistered brothel to be used for prostitution.
Later in an interview, the Director of Anti-Human-Trafficking Unit at the CID, Supt. Patience Quaye told Asempa FM’s Yaa Asantewaa the suspects would be arraigned before court tomorrow while plans are being made to send the victims back to Nigeria.
According to her, one of the women got in touch with a holiday maker to inform the police about their predicament. The holiday maker obliged and reported the case to the police. She said the police acted promptly and were able to arrest the suspects.
She said they have been charged with human trafficking and will face prosecution.
