Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome is in court over EOCO’s handling of investigations ordered by President Mills into the controversial 58 million cedi payment to him by the state.His lawyers this afternoon filed two writs, first, questioning the mandate of the Economic and Organised Crimes Office to investigate the matter.Their case is that EOCO cannot investigate the judgment of a court.They are consequently seeking an injunction to stop EOCO from continuing with the investigations.The lawyers are also challenging EOCO’s action to freeze Mr. Woyome’s bank accounts.Even though checks Joy News indicate that EOCO has not been served with the summons yet, a special aide to Mr. Woyome told Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoh that EOCO has duly been served with the interlocutory injunction demanding that they ceased their investigations.“For now they cannot investigate the payment of the judgement debt,” he said, emphasizing that Mr Woyome resorted to the courts not because he has something to hide.“Basically what he is saying is that he is praying for an interlocutory injunction restraining the EOCO and its agents, workmen, and for instance anybody or any group of persons or person carrying out investigations relating to the payment of the judgement debt.”He insisted that the grounds under which the investigations were being conducted are “null and void”.He explained that once a court of competent jurisdiction has determined a matter, such as the Woyome case, and its merits, no other organization can open up the case again except a superior court.
