The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Force has arrested Chief State Attorney, Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, for questioning in the ongoing Alfred Woyome judgment debt scandal.
The Chief State Attorney is one of many officials indicted by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office’s interim report following a probe of their roles in the payment of some GHS51 million to Woyome.
He is being held at the Police Headquarters in Accra and his arrest follows the arrest on Friday of Alfred Woyome, the principal suspect indicted by the interim report of manipulating documents and information and riding on the negligence and/or complicity of public officials to receive the money he was clearly not entitle to.
Mrs. Gifty Nerquaye-Tetteh, wife of the Chief State Attorney, is reported to have been paid an amount of GHS400,000 on June 16, 2011 by Alfred Woyome. The report indicated the payment was detected through Woyome's account but failed to indicate why she was paid the money.
The government has served notice all who deserve to face the law over the scandal will be hauled before court.
