The Luv FM 2017 Old Skuulz Reunion provided one of the thunderous but memorable stage for old student associations to relish the memories of school days.
The associations, led by their influential leaders stormed the Baba Yara Sports Stadium not only to participate in jama, football and other competitions, but also display their culture..
The Canadians of the Kumasi Technical Institute took the stage with their T-Squares not for technical studies but rather in a fashion that set the stadium agog with their thunderous jama hit lines.
Performing jama with the T-Square in hand was thought be an impossibility by patrons at the venue but they made it possible.
The KTI were the first to drew the sword when they downplayed the super powers of Titans, Katangees and Contis of the KNUST and that of Macotsas of the Mampong Technical College of Education in their lyrically arranged jama.
Then came the Titans from the University of Education who were ushered in with the Igbe dressed in his traditional batakari dress supported by two of his elders.
Busily jama singers will take time of their busy schedule to lie flat in front of the Igbe who in turn touch them each time with fly-whisk(bodua).
The composed Titans entertained their audience with good renditions of what has become typical of the group; starting with the 'Small Challenge' to the hot tunes.
The arrival of CONTI, the Unity Hall of KNUST perhaps stole the show with their unique entrance. Two members of the group on motorbike triumphantly ushered in the group with the highly protected Odikuro occupying centre stage.
The Odikuro, dressed in traditional war dress had his face partly covered with the famous CONTI flag surrounded by executioners who moved in careful steps with their leader.
They couldn't have left the stage without singing the melodious Konti Por which the group is highly associated with.
"Fellows, charge! Fellows charge," was then heard at the far end of the one of the entrances of the Baba Yara Sports stadium. Men dressed in yellow and black.
Fascinated by their entrance, curious section of the crowd got up to catch every glimpse of every action. The Katangees as they are called were delight to watch as they led their numbers count.
But it was the Matcosas from Mampong Technical College of Education who were crowned champions again in the jama competition.
Kumasi-based Sammy B or the Rocky Star and his 'ladies' opened the gate for what was to become night of music. The 'Fabetwi' hitman and his sizzling dancers set the stage ablaze with adorable romantic dancing moves.
They then set up the stage for the legendary VVIP and Cabum who then became the toast of the fans.
