The Ghana Armed Forces have organised an open day for the general public at Burma Camp in Accra.
The ceremony was attended by a number of people including schoolchildren drawn from various schools within the Greater Accra Region.
The day formed part of activities marking the 55th anniversary celebration of Ghana's Independence.
The occasion was also used by the military to interact with the community and also to let the public have a feel of military life and its infrastructure in the barracks.
The students were taken through an air experience by personnel of the Air Force, armoured carrier ride at the Recce Regiment and a horse riding exercise, among others.
Present at the ceremony were some senior military officers including Air Vice Marshal Sampson-Oje, the Chief of Air Staff, who personally gave the media a 30-minute air treat around the coast of Accra, Winneba and Takoradi at an altitude of 2000 feet above sea level.
Briefing the media after the ceremony, Captain Sena Dzanyikpor of the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces (DPR) said the exercise would go a long way to enhance civil-military co-operation.
Ms Angel Jackson Davis, an 11-year-old pupil of the Ministry of Health Basic School, was grateful to the Ghana Armed Forces for organising such a memorable programme and also urged them to organise it frequently to let other children have a feel of their operations.
