Four people, including the branch manager of the Mponua Rural Bank Limited at Asankare, near Juaso in Ashanti, are helping the police in investigations into a fire outbreak at the bank.
The fire, which gutted the bank on August 27, destroyed all essential documents in the bank records room serving as the branch manager’s offices.
The four are: Richard Ofosu, the branch manager, Mahama Dramani, watchman; Patience Ampadu, clerk and Regina Asare cashier.
Other items destroyed included tables, chairs, a ceiling fan, a Motorola and walkie-talkie, electrical appliances and shelves.
The four who were arrested a day after the fire outbreak have been granted police enquiry bail and have since been reporting to the Juaso police.
The Juaso District Police Commander, Francis Agrippa, could not be reached but a source at the district office has confirmed the incidents.
The source said the police are working closely with the Ghana National Fire Service to unravel the cause of the fire.
The source said the fire started at about 1.45 am on the said day and was detected by a young girl who lives close to the bank and had come out to urinate.
The girl was said to have informed her mother who raised the alarm.
According to the source, all the suspects have denied knowledge about the fire outbreak.
