Kofi Duku, a 25-year old Ajumako Besease flourmill operator was on Friday fined 3.6 million cedis by a Breman Asikuma district magistrate court for unlawful entry and stealing flour.
Duku who pleaded guilty and was sentenced on his own plea, would go to prison for 10 months if he failed to pay the fines.
Police Chief Inspector Gershon Awuyeh, prosecuting told the court, presided over by Mrs. Cynthia Hammond that sometime last year Duku approached one Mrs. Yaa Ampabeng, the complainant at Breman Asikuma to be employed at her flourmill since he had been jobless for quite a long period.
He said on humanitarian grounds Mrs. Ampabeng engaged him to assist in operating her flour mill.
Chief Inspector Awuyeh said on August 18, 2007 at about 2300 hours, a witness in this case who stayed in the area where the machine was located sported the accused and an accomplice, now at large breaking into the store room of the complainant where flour are kept.
He said the witness alerted Mrs. Ampabeng, who later organised some people in the area to chase the culprits.
According to Chief Inspector Awuyeh, Duku and his friend after sensing danger abandoned the two bags of flour they were carrying about 50 meters away and took to their heels
They were given a chase and Kofi Duku was arrested. Later at the police station Kofi Duku mentioned Paa Kow as his accomplice who managed to escape.
He said the police have mounted search for Paa Kow.
