Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation Ghana (CSRFG) and Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to raise the standards of Corporate Social Responsibility in Ghana. The MoU is also to promote initiative of CSRFG and the framework of the Ghana Standard Authority’s International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 26000:2011 Guidance on Social Responsibility document. The ISO standard provides business, government and civil society groups with practical tools for sustainable development: economic, environment and social. It also facilitates trade, spread knowledge, disseminate innovative advances in technology and share good management practices. Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chairman of CSR Foundation Ghana, Joseph Emmanuel Allotey Pappoe said the ISO 26000 is to provide guidance for all organizations on the principles and practices relating to social responsibility. He urged all organizations both in private and public sectors of the economy to consider implementing ISO 26000 as a way to achieve the benefits of operating in a socially responsible manner. The Chairman underscored the need for organizations to be committed to corporate social responsibility to contribute their quota to sustainable development. Mr. Allotey Pappoe expressed gratitude to the Ghana Standard Authority for availing itself for a successful collaboration. On his part, the Executive Director of the Ghana Standard Authority, Dr. George B. Crentsil promised his team’s preparedness to ensure a successful partnership. He commended the CSR Foundation for the initiative and assured them of the Authority unflinching support. Present at the signing were executive members of the CSR Foundation and directors from the Ghana Standard Authority.
