Teachers of the Presbyterian Secondary School, Osu are up in arms, demonstrating against what they call “unfair treatment and unacceptable behaviors” by the headmistress of the school. According to them, “her way of administration is very bad. She doesn’t respect any teacher. She can just reprimand any teacher in front of students …even if you want to go and endorse your form alone, as a teacher you will have to pay before she signs for you.” Speaking in an interview on Xfm95.1, an aggrieved teacher, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “it is becoming too much and if you have a personal issue with her she will not even consider the welfare of the students” adding that “most of the experienced teachers are leaving the school.” He lamented that the headmistress’ attitude was affecting academic work and the performance of the students. The aggrieved teacher said prior to their demonstration Wednesday, they had made her (head teacher) aware of the situation and had petitioned the Castle, Osu, but to no avail. “We have also sent petitions to all the regional directors, metro director and even the headquarters but they are not acting upon it” the teacher added. He said teachers of the school will not assist in conducting internal exams if nothing is done to address their concerns. Meanwhile, the headmistress, declined comment on the issue when contacted.
