Sixteen districts in four regions are set to benefit from World Vision International’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project.The project will provide safe water by drilling 800 new boreholes, constructing 20 limited mechanized water supply systems as well as 25 piping systems, rehabilitating 250 old boreholes and constructing 10 small scale dams for 15 irrigation sites.The project will also provide 4,000 households with latrines and 75 gender segregated KVIP latrines in schools and health centers.In addition, educational programme on improved sanitation and hygiene practices will reach 60,000 school children and 10,000 out of school children.A Memorandum of Understanding has since been signed between the Minister for Local Government and Rural development, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and the Regional Vice President for World Vision International, Dr. Jean Baptiste Kamate.Other beneficiary countries are Niger and Mali.
