A teacher in the Ahanta West District in the Western Region who allegedly impregnated a 14-year-old attempted to abort it is in the grips of the police. The suspect, Daniel Kuntu-Blankson, is alleged to have given five tablets of cytotec to the girl to swallow and two to insert in her private parts to abort the pregnancy but she reported the matter to her mother. Another teacher, identified as Nazi Za¬aches in the Shama District in the Western Region, is also being hunted by the police for allegedly defiling a pupil he was teaching after classes.A guardian of the pupil, a pastor who engaged the services of Zakari, allegedly got wind of the lustful activity of the teacher and exposed him.Briefing the Daily Graphic on the Ahanta West incident, the District Director of Education, Mr Eric Amponsah, said the girl refused to abort the pregnancy for fear of killing her¬self and allegedly reported the matter to her mother.He said when it came to the attention of the Ahanta West District Education Directorate; the matter was reported to the Dixcove Police for further investigation.He said the issue came to his attention when he overheard some parents discussing it at a hospital where he was receiving medical treatment.According to him, he later confronted Kuntu-Blankson after he had details of the incident. . Mr Amponsah said the teacher allegedly confessed that he was responsible for the pregnancy, which was three months old.He said while the police were handling the criminal aspect of the case, the educational directorate would apply its professional sanctions after the disciplinary committee had completed its investigations.In respect of Zakari, who is currently at large, the Shama District Director of Education, Ms Florence Inkoom, said the requisite disciplinary measures would be instituted and appropriate sanctions applied against him.
