The Upper West Region has within the first quarter of 2012 recorded a total of 20 deaths through 44 motor accident cases.Out of this, 20 were fatal cases, 18 serious cases and six minor, with the number of injuries at 68 persons.The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service in the Upper West Region disclosed this to the GNA in Wa on Wednesday.It said four deaths have already been recorded in the Wa Municipality alone in just four days of the Month of April.The Regional MTTU said 65 vehicles were involved in the 44 accidents.These include13 commercial vehicles, 20 private vehicles and 32 motor bikes.Nine pedestrians were also knocked down by vehicles within the period.The Unit advised drivers to be very careful on the road to avoid such accidents.It also urged parents not to allow their children to cross the streets unassisted.
