The Ghana Post Company Limited is undertaking reforms to ensure the efficient and reliable provision of services for the smooth running of the postal industry in the country. The Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Abdulai Abdul Rafui, who announced this in Accra last Thursday, said management would continue to promote postal reforms since it was the company's belief that a strong postal service could stimulate and foster economic expansion. He was speaking at the launch of the Xpress Pay Point Service, a joint collaboration between Ghana Post and Afric Express. The Xpress pay point is an electronic pay point platform for various products and services that seek to facilitate the making and acceptance of payments for various products and services. The unique and simple TXT N PAY service offers the public the opportunity to pay for one's DSTV, Vodafone land line and broadband, sale of electronic credit “top up” and bulk credit transfer for most telecommunication networks without hassle.
Mr Abdul said the new service would be cost effective, timely and convenient with a wider network spread across the country. The managing director stressed that the company's capacity to improve upon its revenue had reduced considerably due to technological innovations in the communication sector. He said in response to the challenges posed by the new innovations, the company had expanded its activities by forming partnerships with other business organisations with the view to expanding its services to the door steps of their valued customers. He added that the company would deliver a wealth of innovative products and services as a way of diversifying its operations to bring more non-core businesses to improve revenue generation.“We want to assure our partners that we will provide greater transparency and accountability in the management of all agency services so that more institutions will partner us,” he said.Performing the launch, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Mr Kofi Nyantakyi, said Afric Xpress was forging a strategic alliance and partnership with Ghana Post to fill an identified void in the current payment transactions within the public commercial space after noticing such potential in Ghana Post.He said technological sophistication and advances now dictated how the company conducted its businesses.Mr. Nyantakyi added that the meeting of technology with the investor had resulted in the 'TXT N PAY' initiative in the interest of and service to the public.“As the name implies one only needs to text and advice and consider receipt or payment done through the post offices,” he added.Mr Nyantakyi said the new initiative had been assured of the security, reliability and quality of service of TXT N PAY which would certainly ensure the expedition of transactions to the satisfaction of all clients. The Channel Development Manager of the Afric Xpress, Mr Mahama Yusif, for his part, said the company's vision for partnering with the Ghana Post Office network was to promote financial inclusion for the entire population.Mr Yusif added that the company's goal was to bridge the gap between their business partners and their customers and that would be done through a robust payment platform and an extensive distribution and payment collection network. He noted that with the various branches entering the various cities and neighbourhoods, all types of payment and transaction services could now be delivered to the door step of customers in a reliable and cost effective manner.Mr Yusif said the company would go beyond payment services to other more sophisticated financial and transaction services for the convenience of its customers in the near future.Afric Xpress (AX) is an electronic payment solution provider focused on mobile payments. The company's mission is to foster electronic-based markets in Africa.
