The Kpando Police Highway Task Force last Saturday intercepted a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis (Wee) concealed in a travelling bag in the boot of a Taxi.
Mr William Akpesey, Kpando District Police Commander said that the team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr James Kwesi intercepted the Kpando bound cabbie from Nkonya and beckoned the driver to open his boot for inspection.
He said the Police found a large black travelling bag in the boot of the Taxi, which had five passengers on board, and as the police tried to find the owner of the bag, one of them took to his heels.
The police officers pursued the fleeing man, Joseph Atakora, 32, a farmer from Nkonya Ahenkro and consequently arrested him.
Mr Akpesey said when the bag was opened, it revealed the dried leaves, which the suspect alleged was given to him by a man he only knew as Yaw to be sent to Ho, the Volta regional capital.
He said the suspect would be arraigned before Court soon after investigations.
