Traditional authorities in Hohoe are calling on residents in the Zongo communities who fled the area during the violent clashes, to return home.
Togbe Gboho I, made the appeal on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, Togbega Gabusu while speaking on Adom Fm’s Midday News on Thursday.
The appeal comes after reports indicated that Zongo residents had fled the town to safety, to neighboring Jasekan and Kejebi townships.
Togbe Gboho I assured that calm had returned to the town, following the violent clashes between Muslim youth and the traditional authorities over the weekend which left two persons dead.
He further promised that the traditional council will also play its part to maintain peace and security.
The Chief however expressed disappointment in media reportage concerning the conflict, accusing journalists of exaggeration.
Some residents Adom News spoke to, described Hohoe as turning into a ghost town as more and more Zongo residents flee every day since violence broke out, even on foot.
