Residents who were displaced by the rainstorm that hit Tamale and its environs on Thursday will receive relief items Saturday from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
The promise was made by the Northern Regional Minister Moses Magbenga, who visited the affected areas and victims Friday morning.
The five-hour rainstorm is reported to have killed one person and left several others displaced.
Many houses were destroyed, with residents' belongings being swept away and some trees also pulled down.
Moses Magbenga told Joy News that some drains under construction were responsible for the disaster and promised pressure will be put on the Minister of Roads and Highways to expedite action on the drains before the rains commence next year.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has warned residents in the three northern regions of more heavy rains.
