The Supreme Court has thrown out a suit filed against the Electoral Commission by the chief of Akuse Nene Teye Titiriku. The chief was angry the EC went ahead with biometric voters’ registration exercise in six areas in Akuse in the Lower Manya district despite an injunction. A writ of summons against the Attorney General and EC was issued by the High Court placing an injunction on the exercise. The judge in dismissing the suit which he said had no merit, stated that the EC was carrying its constitutional mandate and that no court could restrain them. Benjamin Tetteh, Joy FM’s Eastern regional correspondent reported that despite the ruling, the township of Akuse is calm.
