The Funeral Planning Committee has finally settled on the Flag Staff House as the burial place for the late president John Atta Mills. The president initially proposed that the late president be laid to rest at a portion of Flag Staff House to be used for the burial but that was resisted by the family of the late president, prompting further consultations. The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the Military Cemetery and the forecourt of Parliament were all sites that were suggested for the burial of the president who died on July 24, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital. But the Committee has decided to accept the president's proposal to bury his predecessor at the facility built by former President Kufuor as the new seat of government.
