Two journalists of the Multimedia Broadcasting Group picked up accolades at the 2011 GJA awards held Saturday.
They were Joy FM’s Kweku Owusu Peprah, whose report on HIV/AIDS was awarded as the best HIV/AIDS report and Adom FM’s Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona, who won Best Report on Telecommunications.
Kweku Owusu Peprah who was adjudged Journalist of the Year at the 2010 awards told Joy News the award will spur him on to greater heights.
According to him, his well-crafted story on HIV/AIDS which fetched him the award will challenge him to come out with more captivating stories.
Adom FM’s Samuel Dowuona said he was excited that his efforts have been recognized by the GJA. An excited Samuel Duwouna said he will not rest on his oars but rather strive to bring out stories which the public may not be conscious of.
Three other journalists from Joy FM, Sammy Darko, Beatrice Adu and Francisca Forson, who were also nominated, received mention for their work.
Freelance journalist, Manasseh Azure was adjudged 2011 GJA Journalist of the Year, having won four other categories on the night.
Meanwhile Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who was at the Awards Night reiterated government’s commitment to passing the Right to Information bill.
