Joy FM's Midday Report has announced that the number of persons arrested for alleged involvement in the brutal killing of a couple at Twedie in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region has increased from two to three. The three have been placed in police custody, pending interrogation. The Asokwa District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simon Denteh, who confirmed the arrests in an interview with the Daily Graphic Sunday, would however not disclose the identity of the suspects.According to him, the police were pursuing other suspects over the murder.Meanwhile, information available to the Daily Graphic indicates that the suspects include a man, Joseph Amankwah, and his son, William Amankwah, both residents of Abuakwa in Kumasi. Those two were arrested at Abuakwa on Saturday following police investigations.Forty-five-year-old Simms Adu-Gyamfi and his wife, Georgina, alias Yaa Kyerewaa, 42, were shot at close range in front of their house at Twedie just after alighting from their vehicle about 9 p.m. on September 12.The killing was linked to a chieftaincy dispute at Twedie in which Adu-Gyamfi was a key player. He was said to have received numerous threats on his life by some members of one of the opposing factions.
