The Ring Road Central branch of the Rotary Club of Ghana, on Saturday organized its annual fundraising sponsored walk dubbed Walk for a Child through some principal streets of Accra to raise funds for their various projects targeted at the youth. The eight kilometer walk started from the Barclays Clubhouse in Ringway estates after an hour of aerobics to warm participants up through Ring road to Obra spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle for a clean-up exercise with ZoomLion. This year’s walk was held together with their Rotaract Club of the Accra Ring Road Central whose aim was to walk for peace in the country. The sponsored walk was aimed at raising an amount of GH¢30,000 to support numerous community projects of both clubs. Some of the projects include bole hole and water project in the Upper West region, eye care project 2013, Jirapa telehealth and biofil project, Maamobi Sophia project phase three and many others. The Club also unveiled a bill board worth GH¢5,000 to create an awareness on the need to be friendly to the disabled Briefing the press after the walk, President of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, Phylis Mawuse Nyahe said Rotarians were committed to serve their communities in order to help make a difference in the lives people. She said the club capitalizes on the occupation of its members to provide service to the citizenry. Phylis Nhaye was optimistic the club will complete the Asempaneye school project under her tenure.
