The body of a yet to be identified woman, believed to be in her mid 20s, was recovered yesterday from an abandoned well at Yawhima, near Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region. The body had decomposed when was retrieved making it extremely difficult for residents to identify the deceased. It took rescue officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) close to four hours to remove the body from the 75-feet pit.Briefing Daily Guide on the incident, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Kwame Adomako, said the incident was reported at the station on Thursday at about 10:00 a.m. by a police officer and an official of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly. He said after libation had been poured, the rescue officers with the help of the police and the local people, managed to remove the body after almost four hours of putting their expertise to bear. The PRO said though many residents were present during the rescue exercise, none of them could identify the body. They have also advised the people in the community to seal the well to prevent people from drinking from it.Daily Guide later learnt that hospital officials advised the community leaders to bury the deceased due to the decomposing nature of the body since it could not be kept in the morgue.Mr Amoako has therefore appealed to the general public, especially people in the Sunyani Municipality whose family member may have been missing for some time to contact the police.
