The 2018 Accra International Book Festival will officially commence on Friday, September 7, 2018, through to Saturday.
Themed ‘Amplify’, the two-day event would afford participants and speakers the opportunity to explore ways writers can amplify the voices of the underprivileged in society.
The Festival would also highlight the relevance of reading and writing to the development of any serious nation.
The 2018 Festival opens with a Creative Writing Workshop, which would be attended by some selected applicants and the screening of ‘Black and Write’ film on Friday at N8tive Food and Beverage Bar at the Airport Residential Area.
The main event day, which is Saturday would feature nine speakers drawn from various fields who would diagnose Ghana’s literature in front of a large audience.
Attendance of the Festival is free and open to the public especially writer and lovers of literature across the world.
The guest speakers include writer Ayesha Harruna Attah, Nana Awere Damoah, actress Naa Ashorkor Doku-Mensah, and Samuel Komla Agbotsey from Amnesty International Ghana Section.
The others are journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, Boakyewaa Glover, Chief Abdul Moomen, Empi Baryeh and Ruby Goka.
At least over 2000 people are expected to participate in this year’s Festival.
There are creative and innovative programmes designed for adults, young adults and children of all ages.
