Members of a Habitat project at Kranka in the Nkoranza District on Wednesday organized a farewell ceremony in honour of a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, Miss Brie Frey.She was sent to the area to offer technical advice to enable the people to improve their livelihood and is leaving after two years.Mr. Abdulai Yaw Adu, chairman of the project, praised the volunteer for her service to the community and said through Miss Frey's efforts 40 members of the Habitat family had gone into sheep rearing.He said Miss Frey, who adopted the name 'Afia Kudom,' had encouraged the people to do business with the banks and other financial institutions and this enabled them to have access to credit facilities.Mr. Adu appealed to the youth of the area to take advantage of the housing project in the community and register with the project to enable them benefit from the facility.Ms. Frey said she was grateful to the people for their kindness and that she never regretted her two-year stay at Kranka.She stressed the need for the people to continue with the project and build more houses to enable them to receive assistance and support from the organization responsible for the project.The community presented a traditional stool and kente cloth to the volunteer.Source: GNA
