The head of Public Relations at the Ghana Fire Service has dismissed claims his outfit delayed in getting to the MTN warehouse at Spintex, Accra which had been gutted by fire.
Billy Anaglatey insists it took eight minutes for his men to arrive at the scene of the fire after they received the emergency call.
He challenged Joy News reporter Elton John Brobbey and persons who made the emergency call to bring out their phones in order to corroborate his assertion.
He said comments that the service always delay in arriving at the scene of fire incidents are always exaggerated.
The MTN warehouse was razed down by fire early Tuesday, but the cause is yet to be ascertained.
Initial reports had blamed a man said to be burning rubbish close to the warehouse but Mr Anaglatey said they are yet to conduct investigations and to arrive conclusively at the cause of the fire.
Cables in the warehouse and other properties belonging to MTN were reduced to ashes after the fire incident.
MTN officials have declined comment but have promised to issue a statement after a thorough assessment of the incident.
Meanwhile, a fire officer who collapsed and was rushed to the hospital during the fire fighting at the MTN warehouse is said to be responding to treatment.
