A hungry nurse is a potential killer, that is a message on one of the placards wielded by some unemployed nurses who hit the streets of Accra Wednesday morning.
Dozens of graduate nurses and midwives are protesting the delay by the Health Ministry in posting them.

The nurses and midwives told Joy News' Matilda Womegah that several assurances by the Ministry of Health to get them posted have not materialized.

They were assured in a statement from the Ministry of Health last week that they had been given clearance.
Clad in their uniforms and red bands, they converged at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, for a morning devotion- asking God to touch the hearts of authorities to post them as soon as possible - before the demonstration.

The aggrieved nurses, some of who have been waiting at home for the past 10 months for their postings, have called on the President to intervene.
They petitioned the office of president for immediate financial clearance from Finance Ministry.Their petition was received by the Health Ministry on behalf of the President.

But the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Health Service, Tony Goodman said the nurses have been asked to visit the various teaching hospitals and regional offices of the service and procure their forms.
"I have spoken to some nurses who say they have gone for their forms," Tony Goodman asserted.

But the nurses have threatened to demonstrate in all ten regions of the country until their issues are not addressed.
