A deadly shooting in Denase, a community in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region, has left two people dead and three others injured, triggering widespread fear and anxiety among residents.
The incident occurred Thursday night when multiple gunshots rang out, causing panic throughout the area.
The injured victims were rushed to Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants appeared to have specifically targeted occupants of a moving vehicle.
The Unit Committee Chairman for the Denase Electoral Area, Kwabena Asamoah, confirmed that at least 14 shots were fired, suggesting a deliberate and violent assault rather than an armed robbery.
“This wasn’t a random attack. The way it happened shows they were after specific individuals,” Mr Asamoah said.
Though the motive remains unclear, some residents suspect it could have been a contract killing. The area has recorded similar attacks in recent years, fueling concerns over a possible trend of unresolved violent crimes.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Meanwhile, the community remains tense, with growing calls for enhanced security and swift justice.
