The camp of Robeisy Ramirez have thrown out chances of a world title bout rematch between Ramirez and Isaac Dogboe.
The Cuban became the new WBO featherweight champion after beating Dogboe via unanimous decision at Oklahoma. Judges scored the bout 119-108, 118-109 and 117-110 in favour of Ramirez - with the two time Olympic Gold medalist also edging the final round with a knockdown.
However, Dogboe dismissed the results and called out Ramirez for a rematch.
"I thank God for the opportunity once again. Robeisy is a terrific fighter, but that knockdown was no knockdown. That was a dictatorship result. Let's run it back - it's a rematch. If he's a true champion, let's run it back for Cuba and the people he claims to represent," Dogboe said post-bout.
Dogboe after losing his WBO super bantamweight title to Emmanuel Navarrete lost the subsequent rematch he called for, but this time round, there is a possibility he could not even receive the opportunity for a refight.
"No, I don't see it happening, there is really no need. At the end of the day, Robeisy has earned the title, big unanimous decision. Dogbe has been in I think three of these now - winning one of them. There's really no upside I believe, for us. If they force it of course, Robeisy will take the fight but I just don't see the upside," Larry Wade, a member of Ramirez's team told Nathaniel Attoh inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Meanwhile, JoySports understands there could be some changes taking place with Dogboe's team after an expiration of his contract with Top Rank.
