Nana Sarpong Kumankuma I, chief of Abakomadi in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District, has made a personal donation of GH¢3,000 to complement efforts of landlords of the Abuakwa Akosa New Site to dredge the Dwahyen River that has been the cause for flooding in the area over the years.
The donation was in response to an appeal made by the landlords who had experienced massive flooding due to silting of the Dwahyen River.
He pledged his continued support to the residents to salvage the situation.
Dr Roland Issaka, Chairman of the group, thanked Nana Sarpong Kumankuma for his concern and appealed to the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly and other non-governmental organisations to assist.
He said floods had been wreaking havoc in the area and during such times people found it difficult to enter their homes and snakes and other reptiles entered houses.Source: GNA
