Deputy Majority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa gave his approval of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
Mr Ablakwa announced his resignation from Parliament's Appointments Committee by a letter dated March 30, addressed to the Speaker, Alban Kingsford Bagbin.
According to him, reasons for the decision was “after days of careful reflection and thoughtful considerations"
He took the decision following the Minority’s approval of Ken Ofori Atta.
But the Deputy Majority Leader disagrees as he says Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa was part of the meeting that approved the nomination of the finance minister adding that Mr. Ablakwa never opposed the approval.
“...My brother, i sat there, he was there, we agreed he added his voice to the decision we took. don't let me go into specifics, don't let it be and as if he didn't agree or consent to. he had the opportunity to ask question, he was part, he didn't oppose," said Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
He added that what some people are describing as crisis among the NDC leadership is a normal situation every party goes through.
“Its a crisis any leader goes through when there is a certain level of a expectation. I hope that they would go through successfully by managing the situation."
Meanwhile, Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak says he not surprised by the decision taken by Mr Ablakwa.
Speaking on PM Express Wednesday, he said the North Tongu MP was entitled to take any action he deemed fit.
The Minority Chief Whip also appealed to supporters of the party across the country to trust the NDC leadership to police the majority side in Parliament rigorously.
