Foreign Affairs Minister and North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has officially cut the sod for what he describes as the largest educational intervention in the history of the constituency.
Speaking at the launch, he said the initiative aims to transform learning infrastructure across the region.
“We are building 15 mega educational projects valued at an impressive GHS107 million. This includes major facilities for all five Senior High Schools in North Tongu: Mepe St. Kizito, Battor Senior High, Aveyime Battor Secondary Technical, Dorfor Senior High, and Volo Senior High,” he stated.

The projects will feature 2,500-capacity dining halls, dormitories for both boys and girls, and a Phase 2 expansion for the Volo E-Block to convert it into a boarding school.

Mr Ablakwa further highlighted plans to construct new basic schools across all traditional areas, with particular emphasis on Mepe to replace schools destroyed by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
“We are not just constructing buildings; we are empowering the next generation to take our country to the promised land,” he said.
The MP expressed gratitude to key stakeholders for their support in bringing the projects to fruition.

“I am grateful to President John Mahama, the Education Minister, and the GETFund Administrator for their unwavering support and commitment to quality education. I also thank the Volta Regional Minister and our revered chiefs for their presence and dedication to duty,” Ablakwa added.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to delivering results for his constituents.

“I shall continue to under-promise and over-deliver, as has always been my hallmark in our beloved North Tongu,” he said, signalling that construction would begin immediately following the completion of competitive procurement processes.
