The Access-Intercontinental Bank merger is already yielding dividends to customers of both banks. As part of the integration process, Access Bank has waived the 70 pesewas ATM usage fee for all combined card holders. Customers of both banks can now also deposit money at a wider branch-network of 33 as a result of the merger. The Head of Corporate Affairs for Access Bank Ghana, Matilda Asante-Asiedu explains, the two initiatives which take immediate effect are the first dividends of the customer-focused approach of the combined banks. She explained “In the past when the two banks were not in a merger, if Access Bank customers used an Intercontinental Bank ATM, they were charged an additional 70pesewas and the vice-versa. But because we are now in a merger, we’ve waived that cost so customers of both banks can have access to 40 ATM’s across the country and also use them at no extra cost”.She continued “Access Bank had 5 branches and that was a limitation. Thankfully because of the merger, Access Bank customers now have an additional 27 branches where they can deposit money and carry out all other other banking transactions”.
