Four persons are reported to have been declared dead after two buses collided at Takoradi in the Western Region.
The accident occurred on January 1, 2023.
It involved a sprinter bus with the registration number LB-B11992 from the Republic of Liberia and a bus for the Assemblies of God with the registration number GT 4481-22.
Some congregants were traveling in the Assemblies of God bus from Accra to Asankragwa, while the sprinter was traveling in the opposite direction.
Describing what led to the accident, an eyewitness revealed that in an attempt to turn at the New Apostolic Junction at Kojokrom, the sprinter, having previously at top speed overtaken other vehicles, collided with the oncoming Assemblies of God bus.
“The yellow bus had loaded church members who went for camp meeting at Accra. Whilst returning to Asankragwa, it collided with the sprinter vehicle. The driver of the Assemblies of God bus was unstable when I arrived here”, Kofi Amoah, an eyewitness narrated.
Four people in the sprinter bus are confirmed dead while others are said to have sustained critical injuries.
Meanwhile, some passengers in the Assemblies of God bus are reported to have sustained minor injuries and have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
