A man-diesel cargo truck being driven by one Inusah Shaibu, 34, in the early hours of Sunday crashed into a house at Gbi-Kledzo, near Hohoe injuring five occupants of the building.
Shaibu who was trapped together with his mate Saddat Abdulai in the drivers’ compartment for over two hours before being rescued by a team from the Ghana National Fire Service was receiving medical attention at the Hohoe Government Hospital including a man only known as Nii who was in the house.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Daniel Ablordey, Hohoe District Police Commander who briefed the GNA gave the names of the injured as Elisabeth Noagbewornu, Selorm Kudiawu, Rejoice Zu and Portia Bansah who have been treated and discharged for various degrees of injuries.
Miss Noagbewornu told the GNA that they were woken up by the impact of the crush and expressed gratitude to God for saving their lives.
Meanwhile, the Hohoe Motor Transport Traffic Unit of the Ghana Police Service is investigating the cause of the accident.
